    Ropes Course
The Ropes Challenge Course program will be adventure-based learning that takes place on our low and high elements course. Some events are at ground level and called low challenge elements. Events installed up off the ground in the trees or on pole structures such as the Wall, are called high confidence elements.
The Goal of the Challenge Course
Challenge courses, for the most part, utilize structures (elements/initiatives) made with beams, cable and rope traverses, nets, bridges, ladders, platforms, and so forth. They are comprised of a series of structures installed in a wooded area of Camp Berkshire. The goal of the low challenge elements is to work together to become more coorperative as members of a team, while the goal of high challenge elements is to personally challenge the individual, pushing them to accept a greater challenge and thereby increase their self confidence.
    Low and High Group Initiatives
    Low Initiatives
Our initiative and low rope program focus on team building and are fun problems that require small groups of 8-12 participants to function coorperatively to reach a solution. Focus is not placed on completion or speed, but rather process, encouraging communication and teamwork. Initiatives and low rope course activities are excellent for groups wanting to develop better communication and team spirit, or for new groups just beginning to work together.

    Individual High Initiatives
Individual participants are asked to achieve a goal on their own, receiving verbal support from other members of the group. Speed or individual excellence is not the goal. Success is not determined by how well single individuals perform, but rather to what extent they are willing to try something and personally challenge themselves. Individual growth and satifaction from accepting a challenge are the result.
